Older Dogs are Great with Kids
If you have young children below the age of 8, you’ve really got to be sure you bring the right dog into the house or there could be tears and heartache when one of the kids get nipped at and the puppy has to go back to the shelter. Kids can be rough with dogs, pulling on their ears and squeezing them too hard, and a puppy is just going to react however they react because they are hurt and scared. Older dogs have much more patience with kids, plus they are bigger and won’t feel as threatened. You should still always watch your very young ones interact with dogs to be sure they aren’t instigating something.
